PROJECT 1 (INDIVIDUAL)
OBJECTUM
The first assignment is to produce 6 different drawings of selected items in which the items were categorized into two categories, free hand and technical drawings. The objective of this assignment is for students to practice on differentiate simple line drawings without rendering, as well as sketches using shading techniques while using drawing to just use drawing from observation of still life to efficiently and artistically communicate aspects and elements in their drawings. Students will be encouraged to express their understanding of the basic concepts, elements, and drawing methods through this assignment
TITLE BLOCK
Each page must include a title block in the following format:
-
Provides title for each drawings on each a4 size paper and it shall be manually hand drawn using the appropriate tools, it should be hand sketched to scale.
-
All final sketches must be carefully drawn with suitable pencil lineweights.
SELECTED ITEMS
Choose 1 items from Category 1 and 2 to be the model of this drawing assignment.
-
The size of the items should be less than an A4 size paper. The recommended size is roughly 15 cm x 15 cm x 15 cm.
-
Should be sufficiently hard so that all the necessary details should be captured nicely.
-
Selected items shall get lecturer's approval.

CATEGORY 1 (DECORATIVE ITEM)
CATEGORY 2 (GADGET)
I proposed four pictures of my decorative item for free hand drawings and six pictures of a nintendo switch for technical drawings which the reason on why do I chose to draw these items is because it got every details that I would like to capture in my drawings.
he structure of these items are looking interesting and fascinating.
The decorative item got approved by my lecturer since the items have every little details that he wanted.
DRAWINGS
Students were informed to produce 6 different drawings based on selected items in which it teaches the students on the differences of line weights and step by step in drawing.
-
All drawings should be captured manually using pencils and For Category 2, all lines must be drawn with the appropriate scale using a ruler and the appropriate equipment.
-
Architecture lettering is compulsory.
PROGRESS
Starting from title block, I sketched the basic line of my decorative items and showed it to my lecturer to get feedbacks in tutorial class.
-
My lecturer commented on my works and things that need to be improved in which I need to avoid using messy sketch lines where it looks messy and I explained to him that it is only for my progress sketch.
-
He gives feedbacks on my composition which I used a grid lines to bring focus to my decorative item.
I have completed the final of my free and drawing and send it to my lecturer to get feedbacks so that I could proceed with Category 2.
My lecturer suggested that I shall start with my Category 2 since I have finished the Category 1.
FINAL OUTCOMES
After, lots of feedbacks from my lecturer, I have decided to outline it with suitable line weights using drawing pencils and he helped me to figure out the section line for technical top view drawing.
REFLECTION
From this assignment, I have got to learn the types of line weights and the gadget details. It was hard at first and when I looked at the internal details, I was thinking if I could capture everything. I solved the problem by dividing the internal into 3 parts and started to draw every parts one by one.
The knowledges that I got from this project regarding the measurements and 1:1 scale would help me in the future. I learnt the importance using technical pens, scale ruler and French curved ruler. I struggled to use the curved ruler, but I kept on practicing to make it look perfect and in proportions.
From the lectures given, I have successfully applied the theories in practical. From the measurements and scale to the every little details. Improving my skills in hatching methods in which I tried to apply every methods in my rendering drawing. This project teaches me on the disciplines of my work where the title block should always be done before the progress session.
